SSC GD photo and signature size

GD Constable 2026 captures the photo live. The signature is JPEG, 10–20 KB, about 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm at 300 DPI.

Your image never leaves this phone. The resize happens on this device. ExamPicResizer does not receive the file.

Prepare the file

709 × 236 pixels is 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm at the notice’s 300 DPI, rounded to whole pixels. The notice prints the centimetres and the DPI, not the pixel count.

Target 709×236 px, 10–20 KB

What the notice says

Constable (GD) and Rifleman (GD) use a live photograph. The notice warns that a photo of a pre-existing photograph will be rejected, with the usual Aadhaar-authentication exception.

The upload step in the 2026 notice is more specific than CGL: JPEG, 10 KB to 20 KB, about 6.0 cm wide by 2.0 cm high, at 300 DPI, horizontally aligned. The pixel size below is that centimetre size converted at the printed DPI and rounded. The notice itself does not print 709×236.

Signature

709 × 236 pixels is 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm at the notice’s 300 DPI, rounded to whole pixels. The notice prints the centimetres and the DPI, not the pixel count.

  • Black or dark ink on white paper. Keep the signature horizontal.
  • Make the signature large. SSC’s own upload note says miniature signatures are the main reason files are rejected, and the signature should fill most of the box.
  • JPEG or JPG only, between 10 KB and 20 KB.
  • The GD 2026 notice adds 300 DPI and says the signature should be horizontally aligned.

Why these files get rejected

  • Submitting a photograph of a photograph during live capture.
  • Cap, mask, or spectacles in the live photo.
  • A miniature signature. The notice says this is the major reason signatures are rejected.
  • A signature that is not horizontal, or that is outside 10–20 KB.
  • Any format other than JPEG.

Questions candidates actually ask

What is the SSC GD signature size in pixels?

The 2026 notice does not print a pixel pair. It prints about 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm at 300 DPI. Rounded, that is 709 × 236 pixels. The file must also be 10–20 KB.

Is there a GD photograph upload?

No. Paragraphs 8.4 to 8.6 describe live capture. The only image file in that section is the signature.

How large should the ink be inside the box?

SSC’s separate signature sheet tells candidates to sign so the mark fills about 80 percent of the box. A hairline signature in a wide white margin is the usual rejection.

Does this differ for Assam Rifles rifleman posts?

The photograph and signature instructions are in the common GD 2026 notice. They are not split by force or post.
